When I launched Wacky Clothing in 2009, I was so excited to bring my own unique designs to babies, boys, girls and adults everywhere.
Today, a full range of Wacky designs can be found online at our webshop, and instore at a variety of quality Irish retailers including The Kilkenny Shop, the Beehive in Achill, the Cat & Moon in Sligo, Westgate Design in Wexford, and Bolands of Kinsale, to name a few.
As a child I was always very arty and loved to craft things with my hands. I started out in the clothing industry when I was just 15 years old and completed a four-year apprenticeship where I first trained as a clipper, learning to take threads from jackets and trousers, before earning stripes as a buttonholer, and then moving up to the industrial sewing machine.
While I spent many years working for a variety of companies and brands, I remained passionate about my designs which are inspired by colour in nature. Just when you think two colours are totally mismatched, they are captured in perfect harmony in nature’s wildflowers; oranges against purples, greens with red, and purple with yellow. While there’s nothing quite as uplifting as bright, vivid colours and that’s why they are a key feature of every Wacky Design.
Creativity also features heavily in every Wacky Design, especially in our kid’s range where hoodies with bright green spikes help kids imagine they are dinosaurs, and rainbow-hued unicorns bring a little magic to each day.
Wackys’ snug fleece designs are so easy to wash and wear, take very little minding and will bring years of enjoyment to those who wear them. In fact, our designs are such good quality they can be handed down multiple times between brothers and sisters and cousins and friends.
